ForgeTax merchant stock consists of single-use anvil tools, run-wide consumable pacts, and rare sword bases offered by the ghost merchant between forging sessions. Managing this inventory lets you mitigate shatter risks, generate extra tribute value, and satisfy contract quotas before the dragon loses patience.

Ghost Merchant Inventory and Consumables

Following the game's recent updates, consumable options at the merchant and the anvil row have been streamlined into a single five-slot usable layout alongside instant-effect supplies. Certain legacy items have been fully removed from circulation, while active items serve distinct utility roles during your strikes.

Retired Merchant Items

Official updates from developer GraveYardDev removed five consumables from active merchant pools to refine item utility. If you load an older save holding these items, the game refunds their base purchase values:

  • Forging Oil
  • Muffled Candle
  • Emergency Steel Core
  • Contract Revision Ink
  • Echo Powder

Sword Bases in the Merchant Pool

Beyond consumables, the ghost merchant offers weapon bases that unlock distinct evolution paths in the codex:

  • Funerary Sword: Introduced as an official addition to the ghost merchant's wares. It features an evolving cosmetic and stat progression from +0 to +20, culminating in the Key to the Underworld.
  • Fishblade / Fish Sword: A situational sword base sought by players that appears across merchant interactions, developing into marine forms up to Leviathan's Fang (+20).

Under the shortened 21-day contract curve (April 15 through May 5), higher-tier merchant offerings and relic selections become accessible earlier in a run, providing earlier opportunities to construct builds before the final 145,000G tribute requirement.

Relics That Expand Merchant Stock and Shop Economy

Multiple unlockable and base-pool relics directly alter merchant offerings, rerolls, and available sword counts:

  • Wandering Ghost’s Ledger: Forces merchants to bring 2 extra offers starting from their next visit. Unlocked through achievement progression.
  • Silver Supply Writ: Permanently increases basic sword stock by +2 from the merchant's next arrival onward.
  • Worn Voucher: Grants 1 complimentary relic shop reroll each round.
  • Collector's Hook: Allows you to convert the round's first unforged +0 sword into 2 relic shop credits after using a reroll.
  • Tax Tally: Awards +1 relic shop sword credit each time you pay the dragon's tribute in full.

Merchant Achievements

Clearing out inventory during a single stop unlocks an official Steam achievement:

  • I’ll Take Everything: Purchase all available stock during a single merchant visit.

Acquiring the merchant-exclusive weapon lines also opens paths to their corresponding +20 mastery milestones, such as Funerary Sword Mastery and Fishblade Mastery.
